Well this could have gone into two categories, so forgive me if I am in the wrong one. I am new to TB but have been playing for 20+ years.
I just started using a M900 DG head and love it, just wondering now if my B7K Ultra is redundant. .playing around with it. .. Support at DG says its not and can add to the tone, but honestly its very subtle as the m900 has a B3 built in.. I traded back in the VMT pedal (which I LOVED) as the m900 has that built in too.
There does seem to be some eq shaping that is quite nice when using the B7K Ultra with the M900 but I am still pondering on if its more appropriate to sell it off.. I could use the money now :) !

The M900 is essentially a B7K / Vintage Ultra with a power amp attached, and minus the grunt/attack switches. It also runs at a higher internal voltage which changes the nature of the overdrive somewhat. If you're happy with the amp's B7K/Vintage sounds where it has those buttons pre-set, and you don't need to place other effects like chorus after the drive, then the pedal may well be redundant.

Best person to answer this question though is you - you have both pieces of gear to play with, so see how much mileage you get from stacking the drives into one another. If you could use the money elsewhere, sounds like the question might already be answered!

You got both, right? Does it sounds redundant to you?

Thanks both of you for responding. It does seem to add some extra body and tone, not that it's needed, I love it with or without.
I am new to pedal boards so had to ask the question as I feel rather stupid when it comes to tech in the music world sometimes.
I run a chorus, BBe sonic stomp, and b7k and tuner

I guess time will tell. My guess it’s redundant but the m900 has the b3 and the b7 has more we and grunt.. I also read a post where someone kept theirs for those gigs when you use someone else’s backline - take the pedal and your sorted!!

Hey all, I decided to keep the b7k and use it with the M900. The head doesn’t need it but the EQ /preamp function adds something special to the sound indeed. I expect the V2 of this head with the EQ now built in is also what they were thinking

    So it’s a keeper
