Depending on which Ultra it will be v2 or v3, but the versions with the Aux-in starting with the X-Ultra have upgraded boards that run quiet in my experience (though I’ve only tried the X-Ultra I believe they now use the same tech for all the Ultra pedals since, differentiated by the presence of the aux-in).Do the v2 version of the pedals still have the noise issues? Thanks
The B7K Ultra and Vintage Ultra with the Aux-in are actually the 3rd versions, as the first version had no cab-sim or headphones, the second had the cab-sim but no aux-in (and higher digital noise floor), while the 3rd has the Aux-in and improved digital circuitry. The original AO Ultra began with the cab-sim (so v2 is the improved one), while the X Ultra had everything by the first versionAlpha·Omega Ultra v2 (AUX-IN)

This is really the first course of action when you buy something new that doesn’t perform as expected. That people from DG post/respond on Talkbass sometimes is awesome, but it isn’t something that anyone should expect. I would guess Doug specifically has his hands very busy with the Neural DSP Quad Cortex release, while DG has its own separate customer service folks that you should be relying upon. I’ve had good luck when I’ve emailed DG customer service in the past (I was one of the early adopters of the X7 that had issues with headroom at 9V and was well taken care of for it).Why has Doug gone quiet? We should really expect better customer service than this. By now I'm sure if I reached out to them directly, they would say "can't help, you've had the pedal too long." I'll give it a shot and update if they help.
I totally agree. I had problem and the DGs customer service was superb. They solved my problem in a few days.Doug hasn’t been active in any of the Darkglass threads from what I can tell for a very long time, relatively speaking. Your expectations are unreasonable. Contact their customer service and go through the proper channels. I’ve never had an issue with their customer service and I’ve never relied on the CEO of the company to solve my issue. His participation was icing on the cake, but the cake itself is the product and the service that goes along with it.
did it fix theI just heard back from them this morning, they are swapping out my unit, top notch customer service!

it was my BK7 ultra not my A/o, I emailed Darkglass they are going to get it sorted out for me. I am just waiting to hear back form them. I assume they will get me to ship my old pedal to them and they will fix it.I guess I'll be emailing them as well, since my Alpha Omega Ultra has a lot of Hiss too. I own the first version of AOU, btw.
Please @Highroler79, let me know how does your problem go, if they can come up with a solution for you. Greetings from Chile

So you went into the software and boosted the input level there? The hiss SHOULD stay the same level when you do this, but your bass signal should now be much louder in relation to it as you are effectively adjusting the signal to noise ratio (then you can adjust the overall output by turning the Master on the pedal down if the board can’t handle the output or if you are getting clipping distortion at the output). If turning up the software input level also boosts the hiss the problem isn’t the cab sim but something before the cab sim (bass, cables, pedals, power or the overdrive/preamp section of the DG pedal).
As far as the loosening nut on the footswitch, if it is tight and working you should be good- I believe these are actuator switches vs mechanical so you are just triggering an electrical switch which is far more reliable (when it is assembled tightly!) than a standard mechanical bypass that wears out over time.
I haven’t been able to figure out how to boost the input level on a Mac. Is this gain?
If the noise increases when you turn up the signal before the Element, then the noise is coming from somewhere in the signal chain before the Element and the only thing the Element can do to improve it is utilizing the noise gate. Optimizing the signal-to-noise ratio of the Element only helps with noise that is actually coming from the ElementTo clarify I’m getting noise on headphones with the DG element. I’ve been using the pedal for a year, it’s bearable, but I have the physical volume on the pedal maxed out. The noise gets louder when I increase the volume on my preamp and bass going into the DG element. Will increasing the gain allow me to reduce the noise?
For you folks complaining about hiss, why is it problematic? Is it in the recording or live use that it bothers you? If it's recording, the hiss can be taken care of within most DAW's or with noise reduction plug-ins. I realize that might be an extra cost, but the AOU is a very unique sounding pedal and as with a anything high gain, there is a give and take. If the price you paid isn't worth the pedals hiss, then get rid of it. The DG stuff has a pretty well known reputation for being unique, well made, but also sometimes noisy, unfortunately. Sorry you guys are having these issues.
Noise is a problem when it comes to recording and I included don’t like having a strong hiss during quiet passages . So you telling people to deal with it or get rid of it is unacceptable and a crap response imo . I had the same problem and was able to figure out what the issue was with trial and error . If you want to be helpful offer a solution instead of making dumb comments .
