Hello Folks

I have been using the Darkglsss Harmonic Booster a bit and realize it really can be used for several functions.

Here are a few way I used.

- A general boost for passive instruments to match active input levels for live.

- A Particular frequency boost or cut (I’m using it to make my GK had an offspring with an Eden to get that midrange ‘thing’ for when I need it). It’s like have a completely separate amp EQ sound.

-If I don’t have me SushiBox Venus X with me and was just using the RNDI I know have a functioning preamp on the board (if needed).

How do you use your Harmonic Booster?

I'm using it in kind of a similar way. Right now I have an active Jazz and passive P. For when I am using the P, I usually use the Regal preamp in the HX One, but when the HX One is occupied with other things, I like to have a preamp for it and the HB serves that purpose and can also get those great midrange tones. For when I am using the Jazz, I am using as just a boost when needed. Have it near the end of the chain now, but as I was just talking about in another thread, I am going to give it a try near the beginning of the chain before the overdrive to see how I like that.

I'd swap a HB out for a Genzler Pre pedal because:
- You get an HPF
- Better but similar (subjective) contours
- Finer EQ control
- Additional IO

Used the HB I had to boost and sculpt mids and accentuate split vs single coil character. Really effective pedal.

You have a good point about the IO.
Im using mine with a RNDI so I can still route a pass through to back end. Its not the everything by itself, but it offers fixes to issues or offers other tonal flavors if necessary.

I have some of those handled with my Finally V2 and Genzler Magellan 800.

I just ordered the HB...I had an original perhaps 10 years ago that I purchased used, time flies.

I'm going from a passive P (Duncan Antiquity I/'57) to what has turned out to be a great lil Ampeg Opto-Comp (who knew?) to the SA ZIO Bass Preamp/HPF at the end of the board for DI access and clean mixing board signal. (I have the Grit switched ON but the adjustment at "0" as it has a nice body to it based on a transformer - complements of SHOE Pedals.)

Then back to a Mythos Hephaestus Sub-Octave Fuzz (interesting pedal, with a voltage starvation adjustment, that you can tune to do different things.. it's sweet!) Then the HARMONIC BOOSTER to the Catalinbread SFT Sapphire (Stones) then the new Fender WJ Phaser (another well thought out and dirt friendly gem) and out to the Roland D Bass 210 combo (Super Flat COSM) with a full mix post-EQ DI available.

(I REALLY love this 20 YEAR old Class D amp with the Fast Forward Processing of the speakers time alignment! It has an amp for each speaker and a third (160 + 160 + 80) for the fully adjustable tweeter that is not harsh in any way. Have Mercy!)

I expect this to be a really nice place for the HB in this all analog signal chain for EQ/Tone/Boost applications....
