Lately I’ve just been into stacking drive pedals and not using a compressor
This is an interesting approach makes sense though as I found switching Basses with some of these drive pedals can be tricky level and tone wiseI use a different distortion pedal for each one of my basses, I just keep them in the same signal chain on the same board. The B7K goes to a Modified Fender Deluxe P with an on-board Darkglass pre-amp. The B7K ultra goes to a Sterling Ray 34. The Microtubes X goes to a Modified Fender 70's reissue P. The Alpha-Omega goes to a Squier Jazz HH 5-string. Compressor is occasionally used with each. Noise gate just keeps the buzz from coming through the amp.
I’m a big DG Vintage fan and have tried every version since the first one was released and am back to the simple original version. In my opinion the Era control is a big part of the mojo in that pedal and I could never get the newer ones without the Era control to sound as good. YMMV!Gotta catch em all!
My VMT is likely never leaving my life. Small, simple, lots of uses. I kinda want the ultra big brother but.. I dunno. Money, it's a thing.
Have you stuck that board between a guitar and guitar amp? The DG stuff is amazing on more than just bass in my opinion.

I totally understand! I am a Darkglass Addict! Overkill? Probably. Lots of Fun? Hell yeah!
