Double Bass Dave Holland...Segment (C. Parker)

Lots of great video of how Mr. Holland's Right Hand "works" - walking and/or soloing/playing the melody.

You're right, that is a nice view of Mr. Holland's right-hand technique. Watching it, his approach and variety of right-hand attacks remind me a lot of John Goldsby's technique. John also holds the bass pretty vertically and uses many different types of right-hand strikes very fluently. I think that the variety that they employ demonstrate that using different techniques affords them an efficiency and conservation of energy while adding depth to their tone.
