Just saw the Grandmothers of Invention at Yoshi's Oakland. Last year it was the Roxy and Elsewhere tour. This time out they performed the entire One Size Fits All
album, plus a few other ditties. Holiday In Berlin was especially excellent. All the musicians are top notch players. Tom Fowler was not with them this time out. Dave Johnsen played bass. He's a monster. http://davejohnsen.com/ He had two 4X10 GK Neos and a Tech 21 amp, I believe. Dave played a black six string which I couldn't identify. Sorry. Did you see them with Tom ever?

He's one of my heroes, I would love to have the chance to see him play.

I saw them last year at the same venue with Tom Fowler. He was great, but Dave Johnsen was just as excellent, no kidding. He plays in the Mahavishnu Project, as well as with lots of other folks. Killer! I heard Don Preston say Tom was fine and touring in Germany, but I didn't catch with whom.
