Double Bass David Eden Nemesis N8

Someone on this forum owns one and wrote about it when they got it. Try a search.

I demoed one and I was impressed, although not long after I decided never to use an amp again so I didn't go back to do A B comparisons.

AXtoOx what is wrong with 8 inch speakers?

My home made cabinet performed excellently with one, the legendary EA 208 (or whatever it is called) is almost regarded as the holy grail of double bass cabs and people have good things to say about LDS 8 inch cabs.

I've seen mixed rewiews on the N8, so that's up to your ear.
8"? I was assuming there was a "B" string involved. This is the lower end of the Eden scale ( unless I'm way off base), I've had 10" lowerend speakers that just can't handle a "B". I'm sure there are 8"er's that can. I was questioning this model.

Let me know if I'm in left field and I'll shut up.:)

No prob.

The idea of a 40 watt 1x8 "practice amp" for DB seems a little odd to me. Doesn't seem like it would form much of a bridge in between the "don't need an amp" and "need an amp" situations for DB. Or rather it's suitability in situations where you need an amp would be very limited. But maybe that's just me.

Edit - I think the "practice amp" category like this might just be more applicable for EB overall. Fortunately, we can practice DB without an amp whenever we want. Not so w/ EBs. Actually, if I'm just fiddlin' around by myself with my Laklands, I use a Tascam CD-BT1 and a pair of headphones.

Thanks for the input. Yes, I was refering to the 40 watt amp, and Bolo, you're right that it would have limited application. Maybe useful for UB on some low volume gigs without breaking the bank or back. Should be a decent amp for what it is. I teach music in an elementary school. I may buy one for use with EB in my classroom, and I'll let you know what I think.

Then I applaud you regardless of whether you buy the Eden or not. I have two boys ages 7 and 9. Both of them spent 2 years in Kindermusik. The oldest has an additional two years of private lessons on piano under his belt. And now he is playing trombone (shudder) in 4th grade band. You must have a love of music, endless patience, and plenty of Advil. As parents and as music lovers, we love ya for what you do!

And way to go for introducing them early on to the joys of bass! :cool:
