davison 6 string

so i have a 5 string and think i want to grab a six string. have you guys played this bass before or owned it? what you think?

I personally don't like green and the price is too cheap for me to take it seriously. I am no snob either but there are other 6 string basses for sale that are better instruments. I have a Schecter Studio 6 but I did look at this Washburn and still might grab it.

You could try ponying up an extra Benjamin and go for an Ibanez SR206...pretty damn solid basses for the money.

If you can find one locally, check out the Washburn. IMHO, they're very under-rated.

Id say the Ibanez SR305. The main trick for getting the most out of the preamp tone controls is to start with bass barely boosted and treble flat, then monkey around with the style sweeper till you find the sweet spot for you tone wise. Then readjust the bass and treble as deisred, along with pup blend as desired to further dial in your desired tone and variations of it. Adjusting the pups each to taste with the neck pup slightly closer to strings then the bridge pup for both pups mon full for crusing voice (blend at flat, both pups full on). It can do a fairly good P bass simulation with the neck pup minus the note bloom of P pups, but is still quite articulate. Id say the Peavey is good to, but I think the Ibanez can do darker tone better personally.


For original poster about the Davison 6 string. Is a nice shade of green, but for so low a price for multilam neck thru build Id be rather skeptical about overall qaulity both build and sound wise. Esp Ltd has a very nice neck thru sixer for just $429 regular internet store price, the ESP LTD B-206SM. Thats the lowest price nice sixer I know of.

Never played nor owned. As a six player, I suggest that you listen to the above posters and take Davison with a grain of salt. Your profile does not suggest to me a locality, so I can't say "Go play a local bass first." If you can afford to lose two hundred out of hand on what turns out to be a bum deal, do it. If you can't, find something that you can play first.

I've heard the name davision. the lead singer in my brother's band has a les paul clone made by davison. I never knew that they make basses. I wonder how they sound. I'll bet they sound pretty cool.
