THAT'S the way i used to play it until i saw a Day Tripper video.

The first note: E on the 12th fret.
If you notice, that where the low open E on the guitar would be.

It's actually easier for me, no fast movements to the side this way, every finger is close to the right fret.

I dont kn ow how the chorus is played, cause thats where I "improvise", I usually just play this:

Start on the D string, shift to the A string, then go back to the main riff. Thats not what he plays tho, but I have fun playing that after the main riff

How do we know he isn't..? I mean, the guy must need something to take his mind off his divorce, right?
So that's the next big question for us to ponder: which one of our fellow TalkBass forum members is secretly Macca?

It would help if you played it on a short-scale bass like Paul did.

I remember reading interviews where he said it was almost impossible to intonate notes above the 7th fret on that bass!

I don't think he would have been going up to 10th and 11th frets - but rather going down to 4th fret on the D string - then 2-4-6 on the G.

great, IVe never sat down and learned that. PAst few months ive really started to listen to Macca more. He has some great counter melodies going on. We start with Day Tripper. Lets keep putting up more grooves and such from Macca!
