According to my dad, highschool was really like that back then (the story the movie is based off of took place maybe an hour away).

If anyone has seen Grind, did you notice that Sweet Lou is a direct ripoff/homage to Matthew Mcaugnahey's character in Dazed and Confused?? He even uses the same line about high school girls.
Yeah, the Grind thing was a defiante Homage.
Dazed & Confused, while I'm not in the target audience from that 70s generation... I found it a great movie, really funny, very true to what everyone feels about HS, be it 1976 or 2006, I think.
