Our band did a show the other night and the venue provided foh and a sound guy
I would describe the room as medium size and I don't have the specs on the pa
Whilst I had a second cab in the car, I fronted up with one cab and the sound guy seemed pretty happy to di from the 350 tone hammer
Saying also that two cabs would be too much
The set up involved me plucking two notes to check that the bass was running a signal and that was all good with 30 minutes before we started
We then stepped onto the stage, started and it was like a wow moment
I had a good sense of Bass on stage and it was a good show with the audience into it
The bass player in the next band came up to me after and said wow, the bass sounded great and he couldn't get over how that was achieved with a tiny head and one cabinet
For my part I don't have to contend with really loud guitarists playing out of stacks so by comparing the size and power rating of my rig it matches well with the gear being used by the other members of our band
In saying all this I appreciate every situation is different and this was an example of a good experience
The next band then set up and all of them were using bigger gear including the bass with 2 x 15
They sounded good too
So it is interesting to me that for on stage sound it is not necessarily true that big or small rigs are specifically better than each other
It seems to me to be partly about a balance within the band as to what everyone is using as well as having a decent pa and a good sound guy
The current band I am in is still in its early days and we are learning to improve our show etc ... and for me this includes learning how to bring a good sound ....to which I only get to work on or do when we go live ...
I figure I spend years in practicing, studying in an effort to play well, and all that can amount to nothing if the live sound is no good
I am saving up for a second db112 and a decent bass mike as I would like to try a miked cab sound
But I have to say, given where I am st, that the sound via the tone hammer 350 Di through that pa seemed to me on stage, to be pretty good
But to then have another bass player who was in the audience make that comment was uplifting
