Anyone got this yet? Was about to pull the trigger on their Evil Filter but this seems smoother, funkier, and more versatile. I have an Echo Dream2 and Apocolypse, so I kind of know what I'm getting into with their brand. But since they suck at getting demos out, a first hand account would be useful...
I think the $270 price tag is scaring everyone away. I don't see how they come off asking so much for this pedal.
DBA stuff always seems to be significantly more expensive than their competitors. I've been wanting a Fuzz War for ages, but it's a fair chunk more than any comparable muff type fuzz. Same deal with the rest of their stuff- I really like the style of their pedals, but I'm not sure I could justify it over something from Caroline Effects, OBNE or Earthquaker (and that's staying in the 'boutique' realms).
On the other hand, having an envelope filter that you can trigger with your drum machine sounds awesome. That alone is making me consider ramen for the next two months...
Does anyone know how well this works as a static filter? I don't care for having any movement to the filter frequency responding to my playing dynamics or an LFO - I just want a nice fat lowpass resonant filter. Does that frequency selector switch only have set frequencies or does it adjust continuously?
I have an Alesis Philtre table top effect that can do that if I just turn down the depth of the LFO. Then I can adjust the resonance and frequency and get a nice fat filter tone. But I don't want that on my board for various reasons. Any other suggestions?

From what I can tell, just the five settings, I suppose as a cue taken from Q-Trons and their ancestors.
For a static filter, the Iron Ether Xerograph is exactly that, and it's a juicy one (I'm using a Deluxe to sweep a fuzz during a couple breaks in an originals band I'm in).
Also....there's the DBA Evil Filter, which costs as much as two pedals together but also does two pedals' worth of work. ...and I'm considering springing for one to replace my Swollen Pickle & Xerograph Deluxe combo, which would free up a bit of board space. The Filter makes sounds I can't otherwise get anyway...... so I'm keeping an eye out for used ones just in case....
But back on topic, while I'm not in need of envelope at the moment, the XeroD does em but that Deep Animation really has a special character too. Fatness.
Thanks for the information. I'm very interested in both of those you mention (Xerograph and Evil Filter). I've popped into the Iron Ether website once in a while and they never have any Xerographs available, and I second your comment about how expensive the Evil Filter is! But you're right that either of those would probably take care of what I'm looking for and might be what I have to keep the lookout for.
Update: decided I like my Swollen Pickle into Xerograph Deluxe too much to trade out. Plus it's paid for haha, and the Freq knob makes it easy to tune my Moog exp pedal to the exact range I want. The Pickle is kinda huge though...so I may be interested in either a smaller fuzz or one that does more (customized Grey Stache for example).
& yeah.... a new DbA pedal is almost as much as a new Hologram Infinite Jets or Dream Sequence, which is sort of ridiculous. Nice pedals though
Oh, FWIW, I got my XeroD off reverb, as the Iron Ether site pretty much never has pedals heh-- it's a tiny operation, so that's understandable, but it takes discipline to find one. Love that one and the Polytope!
