dc brick hum

i have a bassdrive that runs on 18V of dc brick, it hums. now i have blowtorch that runs on 18V of my dc brick, it hums. alone or together, they both hum. i put in the VFB on 18V, no hum. analogman mini chorus on 18V, no hum. anybody has this problem with the dc brick? thanks guys!

my original dc brick adapter was stolen. i'm using an 18V with the same 1000mA as the dc brick.

I don't know English names, but adapters can be "impulse" or "stabilized". Impulse adapter will create AC hum about 50 Hz.

Make sure you keep any kind of direct box away from any power sources, it will cause it to hum.

You might be referring to what we call "unregulated" and "regulated" adapters.

Regulated adapters are the recommended choice for almost every pedal and power supply that needs an adapter. Unregulated adapters are prone to a variety of issues.

If you're using an unregulated 18VDC supply to run the Brick, it might be a problem. But something else could be causing the hum, too.

Out of curiosity, what is being powered by the Brick, besides the four pedals you mentioned?

i think its overloading causes the hum. i tried to remove all other effects in dc brick aside from the bassdrive and the hum is gone. right now i don't know which kind of adapter i'm using, what i know is that its made for xotic trilogic bass preamp.
