DD-20: Giga Delay

PLus the reverse setting can get you some really ****ed up sounds if you use it right.

I like oscilation to be fair and I like to experiment alot with it. I'm not really into that much looping or long delay times, for me about 3 seconds is luxury.. 2 would be enough.
I like spacious feel and really warm sound and really versatile to experiment. Which one would you recommend? If any at all? The DD-20 or DL-4?

If none of those.. which one would you recommend me to check out?

Definitely the DD-20, you could experiment with it for years

Out of the two you mention I'd probably go for the DD-20.
Otherwise I'd go with the Eventide Timefactor if it was affordable to you and readily available in your location.

I really liked the DD-20 but got rid of it because it was overkill. I mostly use a very long delay. I liked to set it for around 16 seconds with pretty high feedback for evolving loops. The things that bugged me about it were, too many options, the little blue tempo light that never goes away, the size. Mostly, I felt that my Hardwire DL-8 did pretty much all I need in half the space. But if you're a real delay player the DD-20 is pretty cool with the presets and all.

Ok. Really, I only want a delay for reverse (admittedly on guitar, not bass), the chorusy type stuff (this time for bass) and looping. No need for the DD20 for me then? And I can save $60, too?

The DD-20's presets allow you to store a chorus, flange, simulated leslie, chorused delay, or other delay settings. That's how I set mine up anyway. In other words, it can do a lot of things that a rackmount unit can do. Although I haven't tried it yet, the DL-8 does sound pretty good in the demos.
