Dead JPTR Jive - power supply problem?

I got a (used) JPTR Jive and was very happy with it for a few months. Several weeks back, the LED went out, but it still worked - and it's pretty obvious when it's on or not! But now it just stopped working entirely. I opened it up to look, since I at least know how to solder, but couldn't see anything notable except this affirming message:

Here's the thing - I also had a used Sushi Box FX Space Heater pedal which also went bad. I think it was plugged into the same power supply port on my OneSpot CS7. Is it possible that one port on the power supply is frying pedals or something? I'm a little afraid to try a third pedal there and see what happens...
 
I had sort of the same LED problem, but the pedal didn't die on me.
It was supplied with 18v from my PSU, the LED was so bright it finnaly died.
I replaced the LED and hook it up to 9v since then it works fine.
They say it can handle it, but for me it didn't.

Interesting! The OneSpot has some ports switchable between 9v and 12v, this one happened to be set at 12v and I also found the LED incredibly bright. I put a translucent cover over it to dim it down, I never thought of checking the voltage, LOL. Was the LED hard to replace? I can try that and then hook it back up at 9v to see what happens...
 
They say that it can take up to 18v so it should, mine didnt, probably the resistor value wasn't right for 18v who knows, but it should, i'm sure there are people feeding 18v without any problems, maybe it was a small batch issue.
No, it's quite easy if you know how to work a soldering iron and if you have a voltmeter it would be usefull for finding the polarity, if not, try it before soldering, if it doesnt work flip it around, it's two leads, it's one way or the other.
Buy more then one, i had a pack of five and the first one i took was dead, try it with a 9v battery to make sure it works.

It is slightly weird that your other pedal died using that same CS7 port though.
I've read about outputs going bad on Truetone CS power supplies and even frying stuff (due to higher voltage being sent). It's very rare but there are cases of it happening. You could measure the current from that output.
I haven't had issues with my CS7, but I've recently upgraded to Cioks DC7 which I believe is the best PS out there, just to be completely safe power wise.

I haven't resolved it yet... all the time I had set aside for music this month ended up being devoted to... music instead of gear! :laugh: I got as far as locating some spare LEDs I have and getting out the soldering iron, but haven't tried the repair yet. Sending off to JPTR is a great idea, and for some reason I hadn't thought of that. Thanks!

I have a multi-meter too, I'll try to figure out how to measure current from that port, which is currently empty! It is interesting that there are cases of it happening. But yeah, the Cioks DC7 has been on my radar for a while, maybe I should just upgrade to that and be done with it...
