I had one of the pegs start to slip as you tightend the string, holding the pic and re-pushing it in as the string got tighter worked.

Maybe as someone had mentioned.....a wrap of tape or something on the pin.

how about a light application of Gorilla Snot?

My drummer has one of these basses and i am currently borrowing it. The thing is alright but the fret buzz is crazy. Sorry i cant help you i havent even cahnged the strings yet!!!
