Dean P bass, and J bass

I was looking at those for a cheap p bass to upgrade (I have a couple pickups). I've never played one, but I played their cheapest natural finish bass with the one humbucker, and I was really surprised how nicely it played. I bet these would be as nice or nicer than a squier vm, but I don't actually know. It seems there was a thread about these a while back, but I'm not sure anyone bought one and shared their experience. Hopefully someone will chime in.

Does anyone know if Dean has discontinued it's P bass(Paramount), and J bass(Juggernaut) copies? They are no longer on the Dean website, but are on sale on Guitar Center/Musicians Friend for $300, down fron $500. I'm considering 1, or both. Anyone have any experience with them?
@Sub-Frequency gigs with his Paramount.
He changed out the pups on it.
Dean necks are are awesome if you like a thin fast neck.

I just bought a paramount and liked it so much I have another on the way. Great bass. i wasn't expecting much for $300US, but frankly it's amazing. Especially the hardware and the neck, although teh finish is really pretty too. Sounds great- a little more hot than an actual P, but really good. Not harsh at all and easy to dial in a tone. You really should not compare to a Squier, it's much nicer than a Squier and may be nicer than a player's Series Fender for less than half the price.

Looks like they are discontinued per your observation. They are still out there being sold brand new, but I am guessing when they are gone then they are gone.

Well, this got delivered last night. Brand new. Price was unbeatable.

email reply from Brad Mader at Dean Guitars:

Hello B-Mac,

Looks like the Paramount & Juggernaut have been discontinued. Only way to get one is through a local Dean guitars dealer if they have it in stock or online.

Best Regards

Brad Mader
