Death Cab's Nick Harmer on Storytellers

Hey guys,

Trying to figure out what has changed in Nick Harmer's set up in this most recent live performance. It doesn't look like his usual Ashdown 900 set up. And it definitely sounds a hell of a lot better than usual. It appears like he has a multi effects pedal on top of an 8x10 ampeg cab, but I do not see a head anywhere. What do you guys make of it? See video below. It's definitely worth a listen.

Looks like a little midi keyboard or synth on top of the cab. When the do the close ups on the drummer/across the hi-hat you can see a rack setup behind the bass cab, around the 3:50 mark you can see what looks to be the input meter of an ashdown head on the bottom part of the rack.

you guys are right about Harmer using an ABM 900, but he actually uses a pair of Ashdown NEO 2x15 cabs, not 8x10s (although I think he is only using 1 cab in this video). he typically has them both right next to each other on stage.

damn good tone. this guy was the one who turned me on to Ashdown originally.

I saw these guys last week and was really impressed with the way Nick's bass cut through the mix. Especially when he played the black Lakland P. And his overdrive was some of the sweetest sounding that I've heard live. Does anybody know if he's using the Fulltone Bassdrive on this tour?
