Decent 12" Speaker

My sons got an Ashdown Electric Blue 180-12 Amp and the speaker has blown. Surprisingly to me, having taken it out of the Amp, its a 110 -Watt 8 ohm Blue Line Speaker yet the Amp is rated at 180 amps RMS???

Anyway can anyone recommend a decent replacement 12" speaker available in the UK or should I just get another Blue Line from Ashdown?

A Delta12LF will be perfect, adding one port of the same sizes, gives a tuning freq of ~50hz and a F3 of ~50hz.
Maximum power input 130 watt before exeeding Xmax.

Youre box is ~2.21 cft, thats inclueding driver 2.5litres,1.5 litres port volume.

That's a Delta 12LF rather than a Deltalite 2512? Do you mean make another hole and add another pipe to make another port? Also would this be better than simply putting back an Ashdown Speaker?

Why the Delta sould be a bad choice for combo's?

It's up to you what is easyer, or go for the best.
take a look at the specs of both speakers, and run them to winisd.

that was only for the delta 21lf. is has some less top end than others, but good bass.

whether it is suitable depends on the music. slapping through it will not be great.

all in all the deltalite 2512 is the best fullrange solution imho.

Thanks for the info guys the 12" Deltalite II looks like a good bet and I can buy it locally.
I downloaded winisd but its way beyond my knowledge!! My son plays rock/metal and does like to slap so would I need to add an extra port to the cab as suggested by qts? Also are speaker mounting holes common on all 12" speakers and would the new set up be better than a straight Ashdown Blueline replacement? http://www.ashdownmusic.com/bass/detail.asp?ID=102

holes will very likely fit.

measure inside dimensions and calculate volume. then you measure the port (diameter/lenght iof round) and enter the port dimensions, the speaker and the volume into winisd. ths will give you a reponse curve. you can post that here or the raw data for inspection by your fellow talkbass members.
