Anyone who knows me knows my affinity for Bluesman Vintage basses. John Scott runs a really cool shop outside of Nashville. He builds lightweight FSOs that have been played on hundreds of hits coming out of Music City.
This is a Bluesman Vintage 2T. It weighs 8lb 2oz and is a lovely custom shade of 'surf-foam' green. It has a 1.625” nut, roasted flame maple, thin-C neck and Lollar t-bird pickups. It’s about a year old… purchased from a great dude here on TB classifieds.
I’ve owned a similar bass before. I let it go in the midst of my GAS frenzy (like a dumb@$$). This one’s even nicer than mine. Glad to have it back in the rack!!

The first time I ever played a Lollar pickup was in a Nash PB57. I instantly fell in love with the tone. Unfortunately, I hated the Nash's baseball bat neck. So when I got my custom shop precision, the first thing I did was replace the FCS pickup with a Lollar P. I find the Lollar is less harsh. It's the same for this Deville 2T. It has a nice low end and a nice presence on the high end, without being too sizzly.I've listened to many of Jacob Lowery's recordings where he's using this same model bass with the Lollar T-Bird pickups. Plus, he de-tunes 1/2 a step. Those Lollar PUs are a whole lot more $$ than Precision style - do YOU think there's a compelling difference from your use? Just rarely ever see Lollar's used in P-basses and custom builds. I've been to John's shop in Nashville - live @ an hour away. He worked on my G&L SB-1 1986 - he's quite a character. Talk to us about the Lollars...
Man I know there’s other enforcing factors involved but that bass speaks with authority! Enjoy!!Here's a video of Jacob Lowery playing his 2T a few weeks ago. VIDEO LINK Go to 1:55 for the close-up. Same color, same bass, same pickups...sounds....
If you decide to get one, tell him Jeff from Maryland sent you and he'll hook you up. I've sent a bunch of guys to him and he always takes really good care of them. That’s a looker, I love the color! Ever since getting to play one of David Karns’ 2T’s I’ve been amazed by them, and hope to have one eventually. Congrats on the new bass!!!

Definitely. They do great work. And unlike some ‘custom’ builders, if you want something different or special, John at Bluesman will make it happen. He’s as creative as they come!Oh yeah!
That's smokin hot. I'm not familiar with the brand but I definitely have to chanve that.
