I am on a tight budget sine I started playing again and have always preferred Ernie ball Super Slinkys. They are not that high priced but and I find that they are good strings for the money. I was just windering if there are some decent low priced strings out there. Or if strings are like any other product and you get what you pay for.

Decent low priced strings

No. You're going to pay a fortune compared to on line if you buy strings in a brick on mortar store. Try buying from a reputable online merchant, and pay with a credit card.
Twin pack of D'Addario EXL rounds are only $25 or so from the big on line sources, which comes to $12.50 or so per set.
As previously posted, there's that crazy deal on the Dunlop strings right now.
Also, if you want recommendations on where to buy from a brick and mortar store, it would help if you told us where you live.

I went on a hunt for strings a while back - bummed w/ spending lots of $$ and not being happy w/ any of 'em I got a set of GHS boomers because they were cheap . . . been using them since. Great string for the $$ IMO
+1. $15 for a six string set, less for others, essentially LaBella Slappers, private-labeled for Carvin. Hard to beat.
You need to get over that, you're only limiting yourself. Strings & Beyond (they have the BOGO Dunlops) and juststrings.com are wonderful. Been using them for years. Just stick with the reputable places and you'll be allright.

I used to pay loads of cash for D'Addario strings, but then I moved to Ernie Ball Hybrid Slinkies and was quite pleased, just like you were. Very recently I went to get some fresh Slinkies and noticed that the store had Dean Markley Nickelsteels for almost exactly $20 (a whole $6 cheaper than the Slinkies).

The problem is that what you really need are strings that will last you, EB's IMO do not last at all. If you like dead hard to intonate strings, EB's are for you. If you want strings that will outlast and out perform, spend the extra few bucks and get some DR's or Circle K's, your investment in the long run will be far less then buying crappy cheap strings.
Maybe search for the thread on “Naked” strings, made in Florida, with lots of good reviews.
