Decent XLR cable

AES EBU cable is a nominal 110 ohm and gives very good results for all XLR interconnects in my studio.
Many new studios only use AES EBU cables these days, as they tend to keep a lot of HF rather than capacitivly
filter it like Mogami Quad which we only use in areas of very high electrical noise, like around electric motors or such like.:-)

Beware that some AES/EBU cable has very high tribo-electric noise due to the mechanical properties of the dielectric and it's overall construction. This doesn't matter for digital signals where the transmit/receice/cable charistic impedances are matched BUT for audio, especially where impedances may be higher (it's not uncommon to see 22k or greater on the receive end), the cable can become mechanically noisy. I would not automatically assume that it's a good choice without testing a sample of the specific cable.

Standard pro level cable in the pro audio industry is Belden 8412 type (there are equiv's.) with either Switchcraft or Neutrik connectors. I have several hundres of these and I typically get between 20-30 years under pretty high level uses. Every ~15-20 years we do a rebuild/retermination of the ends, replacing connectors that are road worn and cutting back ~6" of the end where the woven braided shield may have become fatgued.
