Deciding between two Ampegs

Hi to everyone, I'm new here :ninja:

I need a good sounding combo which is loud enough to rehearse with the band and very transportable for gigs.

My choices are:
Ampeg 112 (50W @ 8 ohms)
Ampeg 115 (100W @ 4 ohms)

I raed all the specs of both, and it seems to have the exact sensitivity (decibels).
Does that mean that they have the same maximum volume? :confused:

I have the Ampeg BA112 and am very happy with it. At 50 watts, I actually gig with it, as our drummer uses brushes, and our guitarist is playing a 5 watt guitar combo with a 12" speaker. Sounds great and is reliable. For big venues, I just use the line out to the PA.

Yeah, headroom is ok, but I also believe you want to make sure you are using the amp. To me that means at least 50 - 75 % capacity. I've had LOUD amps that were so powerful, if I went past 2 or 3 it would blast out the drummer and guitarist, so really it was a waste of an amp, IMO.

Now, it also depends on the OP's needs.

Decent choices. I own a BA112 (use for my acoustic combo, with an A/E Tacoma Thunderchief, and with my upright). Decent little amp. You'd be happier with the BA115, though, if you plan to pay with guitars and drums.

Not at all. Twice the power will give you a bit more oomph. The real deal is with the speaker size. Do the math. The only problem, for me at least, is the BA115 has a tweeter, and that thing just hisses and sounds like crap. Many owners just take it out.
