b. Check the relief in the neck. My guess here is that it has too little relief in it (but refer back to my "can't see" etc comments). Some people (and they're not smart) even loosen the truss rod when they ship a bass.
It doesn't look like it does, but it's hard to see. It seems straight-ish almost. Maybe even a little bowed out.
As a general rule of thumb, if it buzzes on the 1st five frets, you loosen the truss rod, if it buzzes above the 12th fret, you tighten the truss rod...

It buzzes everywhere...between frets 7-11 it's okay but everywhere else buzzes like crazy..I guess 5 and below is worse but 12 and up is pretty bad too. What does that mean? And which way tightens and which way loosens?
I messaged the previous owner and he said he hadn't played the bass in a couple of months but when he did last there wasn't any buzz. You guys think it was the shipping? It came from 3 hours away from me in the same state (fl) and only took one day to ship so I can't image there being THAT much of a climate change...but then again I'd imagine it gets pretty hot on those trucks...What do you guys think?
