Decision time.... Again

I like the 2 ohm capable SWR 350, but using that 2 ohm capable EA i800 seems like a no brainer, keeping the SWR 350 as a backup. You need a serious cab or two to measure up to the Mesa. I replaced an Epifani 410 + 210 rig with a better and somewhat lighter fEARful 15/6/1.

I have another one if I need to level buildings. They come up used and can be built DIY. There, I said it. :roflmao: :roflmao: :roflmao:

Relevant to OP's quandry...realistically, what's out there that can get close to an 810's volume without all the bulk? I'm not sure how feasible that really is...8 10 inch drivers is a lot of speaker to compete with. I'm curious, as I also play in a loud band and have had to gradually work my way up to an 810 to have the amount of volume I need without maxing things out. I don't need to push the system hard at all to get solid stage volume, but if we need it (say outdoors) then I have plenty of room to work with.

If you find you are still having to push the rig to it's limits, it might be a good idea to run one of the Workingman's on top. This may not be the best sound, but it will allow you to more clearly hear if you are feeding the little guy too much juice.

I recommend you do a shootout between the Goliath and Workingman's cabs. The idea is to compare the voicing and efficiency of the two designs. Next, compare the two Workingman's paired to a Workingman's paired with the Goliath. This will give you an idea of how well the two designs play together. You may have found your tonal nirvana, or you may come to the conclusion you are better of selling the Workingman's cabs and tracking down a second Goliath.

Sounds like a fun project to me. YMMV :thumbsup:

If you come across a 4 ohm Goliath III 410, you can pair it with the 8 ohm goliath III jr. They have the same drivers, and each speaker in the resultant 610 stack gets the same power. Total impedance 2.67 ohms nominally. Schlepping the 410 is the only downside, but it is lighter and smaller than your Mesa 810.

Here is one of my favorite pieces of gear, though mine is a tad smaller and has solid rubber tires:

So the 2 210t pros and the 210 Goliath jr sounded good through the EA i800. They sounded great with the SWR 350. I know that volume is "perceived", but to me, the SWR 350 was louder and just cut through the guitar and drums better. So I got a smokin deal on a 610 Goliath Sr today. That should do it. Haven't had a chance to play it through my amps, but if it sounds half as good with my stuff as it did through the gk mb800 i demoed it through, I'm set. Plus, I can use the jr for very small gigs, or add it to the Sr for very big outside stuff. Thanks for all your opinions and guidance.
