Decision Time: Stingray......

Hello everyone.

I have 1800 dollars to spend.

I have ALWAYS wanted a Stingray. Always. I have played one many times and love them. Was also quite impressed the other day with a Ray34.

Here's my question: go for the USA Stingray, or get the Ray34 and use the rest towards amplification upgrades? I currently use a GK MB115.

Thanks for any input!

What normally happens in this case (IMHO of course): after you buy the Ray34 you'll wish you bought a US model... not because of quality or whatever... just that since it's been what you've wanted for so long, you will feel like you settled. Then you'll sell the Ray34 at a loss, and buy a US Ray anyway... costing more in the long run.

My opinion: find yourself a nice, used US Stingray at around $1000. Put the rest towards amp upgrades.

By the way, the Ray34 is a nice bass... all the ones I tried were *very* heavy though.

I'm with James as well. You can probably find a like new Ray for under $1000 even. I used to be weary of buying used, but there are so many great used deals to be had, that it's almost foolish to buy new. Especially with such a popular model such as a Stingray(says the guy who just recently bought a new fretless Stingray:hiding:...:smug:).
