Defretting.. first time

A few years ago when I moved out of one of my college apts. one of my room mates left an old beat up Lotus P-bass knock off so i took it and it has been in my closet ever since.

Now i love projects and fixing stuff so i figured what the hell i want a fretless bass to play around on why not try to defret it. Is this something i could even do and if so what all is involved. Good part is I don't really care if screw it up royally.

worth doing once in your life... if you like fretless.. it will help you appreciate super high end guitars.
