deluxe fender differences,,,,

I have looking at these fender p-deluxes,,,,

anyone have any experience with the sound difference between the older ones with the humbucker and the newer ones without???

I know the newer has the active/passive option (dont believe the older does)
newer has 21 frets older 22

my main question is the sound differences anyone know?
I know if you have one or the other you maybe bias but if you have tried both I would like your input thanks

May aswell make sure this thread stays bumped so you can get the info.

I personally don't have any experience with the Precisions. Best I can really do is just post some links to sound clips, YouTube videos, et cetera. I will say this: as far as the Jazz Deluxe's go, everyone I've talked to has liked the 2010 Jazz deluxe as opposed to the older Jazz deluxes. Now, I don't know if that transfers over to the Deluxe Precisions (what with the humbucker), but that's all I know.

Comparision between a Standard Precision and a 2006 Deluxe Precision. At least here you'll have a clear sound of what the older Deluxe sounds like. The tone knobs are full on that bass, by the by.

Specs of the older Deluxe Precision, thanks to TalkBass

For what it's worth, I think you'd like the 2010 Deluxe more than the older Deluxe basses. But obviously, it differs from person to person. Though I myself prefer the sound of the Standard.

Don't know if this all helps, but I hope it does.
Cheers.

How different is the bridge humbucker VS the single coil? Does it give the bass a Musicmanesque kind of tone VS Jazz or it's more like...a Jazz bridge on steroids? I clearly don't know what I'm talking about...:hiding:

It being a PreciJazzRay would make it a very good reason to hunt one of these early model down:D

I would think that the new "single coil" is similar to the humbucker because the new "single" coil is called a noiseless an isnt that the basic principal behind a humbucker? to cancel out noise?
