These look pretty rad. I like the idea of making cheap clones of cheap/discontinued pedals much more than cheap clones of current expensive boutique pedals.
Plus the IC is in a socket and it is through hole parts. Great for modding/messing with.
I like that these are premodded with most of mods for the 250. I'm curious how/if the 3 pedals sound any different.

These are kind of interesting. Instead of a misleading clone of a current production pedals these offer some useful modifications to a discontinued product.

I haven’t been interested in any of their previous offerings but these look appealing.
I got the Harmonic Booster from them because I wanted to try a boost with eq but didn't want to spend over $200 for one. Plus, I really hate where DG put the power plug in at on their small pedals.
*Edited to add* I didn't think I would buy any of their other pedals until I saw this.

That is a very cool clone for a great sounding drive for bass. For those interested Mosky also does several mini versions I have the D250x that covers the MXR D+ and DOD 250 versions in one that is sweet.

I'm hoping that DemonFX does a clone of the Origin Effects BassRig pedals particularly the '64 Black Panel my favorite bass amp.

While its quite possible they would/could release one. Based on John's comparison review of the Cali76 (quoted below), I doubt it would come close to capturing the tones that have made the bassrig pedals as popular as they are.

well it arrived. here are my first impressions...............

after opening the box and taking the pedal out, the first thing that i noticed is that it weighs far less than the Origin. The Demon weighs 9.6oz and the Origin weighs 1lb 6 oz. The bypass switch is a relayed soft switch bypass on the Origin and the Demon has regular 3PDT clicking bypass. The Origin's fit and finish is much nicer (although the Demon doesn't look bad).

plugging them into a benchtop power supply they draw exactly 70ma each.

The LED on the Demon is just a status light and doesn't respond as a visual aid for the compression, whereas the jeweled status light on the Origin does.

Sonically, The Demon is very quiet and pretty transparent and of course the Origin is too. The Origin is capable of more compression than the Demon and at certain settings it's hard to tell that it's on or doing all that much.

I think that the Demon is worth the $73 shipped that I paid for it but if you're looking to replace the original, i think that you'd be disappointed.

So I randomly got the JHS Overdrive Preamp, a repro of the original V1 of the dod circuit.

It can hit pretty hard, at least how I use it, and it’s definitely an interesting and useful vehicle for bass.. this looks like a very interesting approach to that circuit.

Several years ago I had a 250 reissue and at the time it didn't work well for me. I have slightly high hopes that this modded version of it will do the trick.

Well it’s definitely not one that I turned on and clicked with immediately.. it (the JHS at least) is not the most lows-friendly, it ALWAYS clips really very hard for me.. but I dunno I had it on one day and just kept playing with it and after awhile I felt I really knew how to make it sing and how I’d want to use it. It’s definitely an *effect* for me, not a bit of hair or a dirty bass sound- it’s racous, it’s a peak

I also really REALLY REALLY liked it more once I put a small bass boost after it. Boosting the lows enough that it doesn’t sound like the bass dropped out REALLY opens this up as a very useful versatile sound for me. Again this is all the JHS , which was faithful (to a fault?) to the ORIGINAL prototype, so I’d have to imagine that the new release we’re actually here to discuss would be pretty nicely tailored to a modern approach.

Ya, i'm hoping it has strong low end and the GE setting sounds good. At the very least there is the Micro Amp setting. Boosts are something I've recently started to appreciate.
