I wish I had gotten some pics of my banging away on my Cort Curbow on the hangar bay 1 mezzanine during my last cruise on the Truman... I'm sure it would be a funny site, a tall skinny dude sweatin' ***** for a half-hour on a bass.

Now that I think about it, don't forget to perform your PM's (Preventative Maintenance) on your gear! I had to adjust the Cort's trussrod several times in 6 months.

Also, I'll mention this in the Military Bassists' thread, I'm thinking about putting together care packages for our bass-playin', forward-deployed peeps.

Balad and LSA Anaconda are the same place, accept for now its called Joint Base Balad....

Ok, I didn't even think to look at your location (and its right on your screen name) I was even going to ask where you were at, but thought better of it...OPSEC and all.

Anyway, yea I've been to Balad (or whatever they're calling it now) many times. My first tour we patrolled between Victory and there on MSR Tampa for a while. Definitely not the worst place to be posted. Sucks they don't have any amps at the bazaar though.

Worse comes to worse, you could order something from someplace like Musician Friend. One of my buddies ordered a bass from them and it actually got to him pretty quickly. It was surprising.

Glad to hear that your vest worked. I'd definitely not be hoping for a Purple Heart.

I brought a C-Tech Pocket-Rock-it (disturbing name) with me, so I could jam with my MP3 player, I may just order an amp though, like 10 watts or something.....hhhmm you got me thinking....

Its all our pleasures...MrSexy....You know the way I see, 4-6 months in the desert isn't so bad when I think of all the benefits I get in return. Although that mortar that went off in H6 housing yesterday...makes me want to rethink the whole "isn't so bad" part. But hey, its what I signed up to do man. Although I personall believe my sister services The Army and Marine Corps are getting a whole lot worse than we are. I have to give them props big time cause they are outside the wire everyday....me...I work out of a hanger. Also the Navy gets mad props cause its the norm for them to be gone for at least 6 months on a cruise.
