Describe your Dream Bass

My dream bass would be built like a Spector but would have the sound of Geddy's Wal.

Looks old and beat up must be a fender P. This bass would play perfect notes, blistering runs all by itself.

I just look and act like I'm playing and rockin out

I don't really have a dream bass, never had as I see them to be a tool to do a job at the end of the day and if it's dependable and does the task at hand then that's all there is to it.

But if I had to pick something, it'd probably be very un-fussy, and comparatively boring to be fair... Most probably a Jazz bass with a P pickup and a split J-type on the bridge (but which I don't know!)

Electrics wise, single volume for each pickup (with pull mutes), notched tone pot; or a pickup blend pot running in to a East P-Retro. Jazz C shape neck, rosewood board, Ash body finished in transparent black (like the Modern Player Jazz) or transparent wine red (like the Ray4-WS), then current American Standard bass hardware on that and either a black or tort pickguard.

A spector euro 4lx in a purple, green or aqua high gloss finish, gold hardware, hipshot d-tuner.

Or a Valenti Jazz, similar finish scheme, with a mm style humbucker in the mid position and a jazz near the bridge, delano pups, maple neck and fret board, black hardware.

Probably a four string ash-bodied Jazz with passive pickups, SD Antiquity IIs, perhaps, '59 burst ala Sadowsky, lined fretless goncalo alves neck with bocote fingerboard.

I think. We'll see how my Squier turns out once all of the mods are done. One thing I'm fairly certain of is that I'm not a huge fan of active pickups. I've tried them in Spectors, Stingrays, and now a Pentabuzz, and thus far I prefer the tone I'm getting out of my passive Hwy One Jazz.

6 strings on my bass of awesomeness.
Aguilar Pickups. Active setup.
A very wide neck as opposed to the usually preferred narrow neck.
Maple body shaped as a ric. However, no actual finish. Just wood.
Big tuning heads. BIG.

My dream bass would have an ash Precision body and a Custtom Shop 60's stlye split pickup. I'm thinking a maple neck similar to an American Standard. A high mass bridge that allows you to run the strings through the body would be nice. I want a slightly different look though. Maybe an early to mid 50's Precision style pick guard and a metal plate for the tone controls.

All kidding aside, the 60th Anniversary P is MY perfect bass. I wish that it came in more colors.

that bass is pretty much my dream bass, except I'd add a passive jazz pickup to make it a pj bass, hipshot drop D, and a figured birdeye maple top and trans black color with flame maple neck.

If money was no object, my dream basses would be either a Carl Thompson Fretless 6-string with scroll or a Jens Ritter Jupiter 6 in Piano Finish, like the one featured in the intro page to Jens' website.
