I'm still on the work so I haven't listened to the video there but I'm sure that the idea is interesting.
I don't like that filter is just 2-pole cause I mostly use Xero in 4-pole position. Otherwise it seems cool and there are already plenty of options for all of us obsessed with WOBWOBWOB :D

i'm just not gonna let myself get excited about vaporware except from a VERY few builders ever again. stuff comes up, plans get scrapped, reality intrudes.

but yeah, if she nails it i'm SO in.

Very cool but I'm not sure if I would want to commit to $400 to a pedal that doesn't exist yet. I know you get your money back if it doesn't happen, but I think I'd be more interested if there was at least a breadboard prototype. At the same time I can't help but want to take a chance on a pedal that, if it delivers, would be freaking awesome.

While I wish Devi the best of luck in this endeavor; asking people to give you money when there is no product to show for is a lose lose situation IMO. Ambitious for sure,...but in this day and age,....investing is a scary proposition.

I have still only tried one Devi pedal. Liked it enough though. I can't believe what a prick Corgan is (not sure if anyone has read some of the stuff he's said to her). So ridiculous.

I agree with Hoy though, I'm not that into giving money for something that doesn't exist yet. Not because I don't trust her, just because I'm not into that sort of thing.

With regards to the Corgan/Devi drama,....yeah I'm not touching that with a ten foot pole accept to say that those shenanigans aren't what lead me to my opinions of Devi's Dub Step endeavor. Those opinions are just how I feel after being around the block for a while.

Between the Dr. Bass cabs fiasco and some other things I've seen,...a lot of people can get really pissed off when their investment vanishes (granted Doc Bass is a con artist, while the other examples are just a result of getting overwhelmed or not being able to follow through on ideas).

If I were a builder,...I'd rather have stellar customer relations then make a buttload of cash (to paraphrase a conversation between Brian of SS/BS and I). I can appreciate Devi's ambition,..but at the same time feel like it's more appropriate to re-invest in that ambition rather then accept deposits or pre-orders, or solicit investment opportunities to see that ambition through.

I feel like when it's your money,...then you are more motivated to make it a success. When it's other peoples money,...there is more pressure and stress and that can have ill effects on your motivation.

I'm not saying that Devi won't deliver,...it's just that most people can ill afford to part with their cash.

This is definitely the opinion of an outsider (with pedal building aspirations) looking in. Perhaps I'm wrong,...maybe when you reach a zenith like the one that Devi has (medium-ish/popular builder with her name very present in the FX sub-culture), development costs far outweigh income from selling existing lines.

I don't think it'll happen. I don't know what the drama is that people have been referencing here, but this is being funded via Kickstarter -- no money is going to Devi unless it reaches the funding goal. They've got 23 days to raise more than $17k and they're only at ~$2,700.

Especially interesting that the engineering is being done by infanem. This device looks like a direct rival to the Dub Scope, but implemented in a different enough way to be original. Cool.

This is all interesting to watch, but I'm glad I've got all my dub step filter desires fulfilled.

drama = Devi and Corrigan Ego Clash turned nasty, words were spokenededed/written. silly and offensive all at the same time!

here's my problem with ****ing dubstep.... i like that Whamp Whamp WH-WH-WH-WHAMP as much as the next dooder.... but it's not anthing new. if you're a huge electronic/idm nerd *raises hand unashamedly* then you've heard this being done in music for at LEAST 10 years. it's cool that a part of it's been reclaimed and thrown into the popular zeitgeist, and VERY cool that that part entails bass doing more.... but c'mon.

if you listen to older Squarepusher or Venetian Snares (and like 30 other underground doods), you can hear it all over the place. just done occasionally, not as an entire song focus. 'course, most of that music's kinda for people with Musical ADD, and that is what makes it AWESOME.

I don't get why Devi would get in a pissing match with Corrigan... whatever.

Yeah, dubstep largely blows. But the wobble is an awesome sound design concept, though it's much more about processing than playing. I use an Eventide Modfactor for my wobbles and I do far less playing (mostly held notes) while the filter does the work. It's fun, but I use it sparingly.

The funny thing (to me) about all this is that Devi's dubstep pedal started off as a joke about guys in jazz bands wanting to throw in a little wobble -- which is exactly what I've been doing all summer.

This pedal would be redundant.

There are already a lot of options for those who are looking to do the dubstep wobble.

I use an MF-101 with my Goatkeeper's LFO out modulating the cutoff frequency. And the GK3 is syncable :)

MSterling uses a Copilotfx broadcast to modulate his Xerograph's cutoff freq.

Some dudes use an M9... some dudes even do it with a simple phaser. People are also using the Source Audio BEF pro... Now Swimming Bird apparently uses a Modfactor...

So, options there are many...

I just think that this readymade solution for Dubstep wobbles will probably sacrifice quality for convenience.

I'm with you here!
Warp/Skam/Reflex Records et al, have all featured such a simple bass method at various points since 1989.
As have people like Scorn, who started out as doomy grindcore but ended up @ drum n bass minimalist type dubstep
I do like some dubstep, but sometimes it can sound like somebody throtling a penguin.
