Di pre and post

I'd like to combine two di boxes. I have a radial prodi running right off of my board, just a compressor and eq between it and the bass. I use a demeter vtbp201s (with a jensen transformer) as a preamp. I'd like to try running the prodi and demeter (post eq) into one xlr cable (no extra channels on the board). I want to blend the dry and post eq signals. What's the best way to combine two signals that won't defeat the benefits of a good di? I can control the balance by increasing or decreasing the output of the demeter. I was checking out the rolls splitter combiner, but it uses a transformer and I'm not sure how good it is. I am never happy with my post eq sound; the pa and cabinet require different parameters.
