Hi all!

Don't be angry, I did a search before posting. I'm completly lost right now. This is for my live setup. I want to use two amp, one for distorsion and one for clean tone and pedals use. Can I plug two amps in one cab? What can I do if the traynor amp doesn't have a direct out?


I get confused when it is time to send the signal to the mixer. I want to buy a di box but do I need to buy a 2 input and two output Di ? (2 input for the amp and 1 output for the mixer and 1 for the cab?)

Don't be mean.... I'm totally lost in that domain...

You cannot plug two amps into one cab. That would probably kill the cab, and there's a chance it could damage both of the amps as well.

If the Traynor amp doesn't have a direct out, then you split your signal before the Traynor, using a splitter box. There are many of them, but the best bang per buck is probably the Boss LS-2 or the Radial Bigshot splitter.

If you want two amps, then each one gets its own speaker cab.

The way a normal/typical DI box works is there is one input and two outputs. Your bass goes into the one input. One output is an XLR, and that goes to the PA mixer. The other output is a 1/4", and that goes to the instrument input on your amp.

If you want to send one DI to two amps, you still need a splitter box.

If you want to send two different sounds to the PA, like a clean channel and an effects channel, then you need two DI boxes (or one "stereo" 2-channel box).
