hello , i was wondering if i can take the balanced signal from the xlr from the back of my amp and run it to the input of a Radial ProDI or JDI Passive DI , and then from xlr from di to mixing board without causing damage to the amp or the DI .... i know it should be an unbalanced signal going to the di but the reason why im wondering if this will work is that the balanced di from the amp doesnt have -db pad and the radial di's have option for -15db pads ...... just for some information , i have my bass running threw a bunch of pedals then to the input of amp ..... then from the cabnet to input of of a JDI Passive DI ..... then from the xlr of the DI to the mixing board with the -15db pad pushed in ( suggested hookup from the JDI 's manual ) thanks for the help !

A JDI is a well constructed unit... with the right cabling you can do it.
Sounds like you're sending quite the question mark to the board.

Why are you opposed to:
A: Using the DI as intended (between your pedalboard and your amp)
or
B: Just going from the DI on the back of your amp to the board

well , A : im not sure how or where to run the di in the chain when im using wireless and B : i have no -db pad on the amp so signal seems to be too hot (according to soundguy) .... actually runnning the di from the cabnet seems to have a hot signal as well ...... at times the bass signal is hardly coming out of front end .... thats why i was wondering if running the JDI from the xlr balanced signal from the amp would help the signal not being so hot going to soundboard (hope this kinda makes sense lol )... again thanks for all your help
Assuming you have a Hi-Z In and a Hi-Z out, I, as a sound guy, would prefer to have the DI between the pedal board and the amp as 'ericw' mentioned. Is your wireless currently between pedal board and amp? Then put the DI in before the wireless.
there is no reason to run from the DI out on the amp into another DI box, thats just silly. Either 1) run straight a DI after the pedals, but before the amp 2) from the amp's DI straight to FOH 3) from the JDI on the speaker cable (but this is more for all tube heads IMO)
if there is no attenuator on the DI line from the amp, the sound guy should have a pad at the desk, or maybe the signal from your pedals is running too hot and you can turn it down somewhere in the chain...
