Yes, Zeno's Paradox. My maths teacher told us about this. A hedgehog tries to get from one side of the road to the other, jumps halfway to the other side, then halfway from where he is now to the other side of the road. It was a hillarious lesson. So technically, the hedgehog will never get to the other side of the road. So many people couldnt understand this. They were saying "But he will only have to jump a centremeter" so i replied "Then he will jump 5mm".
This went on and on.

No, actually, in theory you can never actually make it to any destination if you follow the method of going in steps of half the remaining distance.

Exactly the peice of information that was missing from the first post which would have had it make sense.

The way you wrote it was pretty vague - rather than "and so on" You need to include the information that the distance traveled each hour will be half the distance traveled in the previous hour. ....BUT, wouldn't the answer be close to 8 miles, but never actually reach a full 8 miles?

Given an infinte amount of time for the rabbit, or an infinite number of steps for the initial post, you do reach the destination. In a real (finite) world, you never reach it.

So, given an infinite amount of time, the rabbit would reach the eight mile mark - but he couldn't eat the carrot sitting there, because he just used up an infinte amount of time... which is to say all of time, so there is no more... but if time extends infinitely, there must be more...
