Difference between MM Stingray and Sub??

Someone is selling a SUB and looks tasty... and a lot cheaper than a full-fledged Stingray. I've been looking to se what the difference between both is but I'm not quite sure.

This SUB is active, 2-band, and construction-wise seems to be veyr much like the real thing. Seller says it's made in USA, so it's not a matter of saving costs manufacturing in Asia...

I'm after a Stingray, just waiting for teh right one... but I wonder if I should also keep my eye open for these. They're certainly a lot cheaper! So, how much of the price difference is a real practical difference?

Slab body, nasty pickguard (easily replaced), painted neck (ordinary looking maple underneath, but does the job), tuners and bridge don't have the MM stamp on them. So they are where EBMM saved money in production, but they are great US built basses. I had a 'Ray5 a 3 band 'Ray and a SUB, now I only have the SUB as it's the one I just couldn't let go of. EB had to stop making these as it seems that there was no money in it for them. I say go for it, you won't disappointed (unless you desperately want a 3 band EQ)

It looks like good value at the moment... hmmm, very tempting.

Regarding the 2/3band EQ... I generally favour 3-band, because I play a lot with the mid control. However, of my basses, the one I find the tone the easiest is my Warwick Corvette $$, with a 2-band. But I'm not sure how much of that is the bass itself. Actually, when passive it's nothing to call home about. So... I'm not worried about having a 2-band. Plus I have an Aguilar OBP-3 uninstalled in one of my drawers, if I feel the urge.

Thanks for explaining the differences. I hadn't noticed the body shape, but now I see it too.
