Different bass designs.

Hi all I like things a bit different that stand out. I would love to know any different shapes and designs of bass guitrs. Have you played them? Do you own one? I see two sides to this topic.
1. Standard basses: (4, 5 or 6 strings) different body shape, scale, look, feel, size etc. Something familiar but with a unique difference
2. Off the wall: Anything out of the ordanary, extra strings, different fret positions, etc. The crazy side of bass guitars.

I have no idea. I had a dream once that this hobo made a bass out of a sea bass. It had a 1 short string added like a banjo.
Also I think people have odd looking wish bases. Google that. Wish bass, not sea bass.

Personally, I love the unique spin Fender Japan took with the classic designs. From the Almighty Aerodyne…

…to the stark, simplicity of my JB-62 "All-Black"…

…and everything else in-between they did. They were bold and adventurous in ways FMIC rarely aspires to. Fortunately, they seem to allow Squier products to be similarly stylish, albeit in small ways only.

One design I'm intrigued by is the Brubaker Brute MJXSC, especially in that cool-as-hell Merlot finish. Sadly, the neck specs tell me it won't agree with my fretting hand. At least I can still salivate over it from afar. drool

Another designer I really dig are the "mash-ups" by Retrovibe, formally ProBass UK. (While copying their link, I discovered the name-change AND their new models. They must've rolled in within a week or two!) I've almost pulled the trigger on a Vantage and a Zygote on several occasions.
