Different colored tape wound strings

I dont know. The DR black beauties coating is really smooth ,but the round windings are clanky sounding.I think that coating would work on flatts, and still be glassy smooth.

I’m doubtful. The reason flatwounds are smooth in the first place is that they’re polished smooth after construction. For them to do that on coated flats would remove the coating that was applied. And not polishing that final layer would leave them sticky and uneven. It’s not gonna work out.

oh ya,I forgot, polished metal and coating wont work very well but nylon tape can be manufactured in yellow or any color.and still feel the same.

Theoretically speaking, it can be done. The real question is who would be willing to go to the trouble of manufacturing something that very few people have asked for. This is the first time I've ever heard of anyone wanting yellow tapewounds since I became an active member in Feb 2013. ;)

Im the guy who goes for the unusual stuff.Yellow really pops with a red body, black hardware & dark fret board. Its only cosmetic im after, but with the sound of tape wounds or flatts.I know there is no demand for colored tapes.I guess Im SOL.LOL.Stuck with whites or blacks.White tapes from La Bella might look pretty cool, maybe i'll try a set.

The LaBella Gold White Nylons are as close to yellow as you'll get.

I was just going to suggest the LB Gold White Nylons. They're 80/20 bronze under the clear nylon cover.

It will take some digging around, but OP if you look in the Squier Mini P Club thread (in the Basses forum), I think you will find info from a TBer who ordered custom tapewound strings from Pyramid to fit a Mini P. I don’t know if custom colors are on the table (IMO that is doubtful) but at least one other person was able to get custom-made black tapes for a Mini P.

Hmm. The flats discussion above. Hmm. Wants flats and color, not tapes. Hmm. Anodize the wrap wire? (Pardon me...I'll just show myself out the side door...although various models of double bass strings do use aluminum, titanium, and tungsten wraps)
