Different from slap

Is this any different from traditional slap bass? I have never seen the technique quite this way. I have viewed a video, Louis Johnson I think, where he said he did this when his thumb was injured. One thing this video proves to me, the grove is the universal language.

I've seen other Youtube videos of this guy. He's sick! I don't think it's that untraditional. I've seen several guys play slap lines like this. Abraham Laboriel will slap like this sometimes. Ryan Martinie from Mudvayne has a very similar way of slapping.

Creativity is the key and it's all fair game!

Yea i was looking at his other vids. He is a incredible bassist. Great at timing. YouTube is, well... informative at times. I had never heard of him before.

Jayen varma is awesome! I've been trying to learn that technique a little bit, but it's tricky to get clean. Cool stuff for sure
