different impedance cabs

Im wondering if it is "safe" to run an 8 ohm cab with a 4 ohm cab (total impedance = 2.6667 ish) with a head that can go down to 2 ohms. I've never tried to mix cabs like this before so I figure I should ask first.

Anyone know?

Perfectly safe, given that your head can handle a 2ohm load. Remember, that's the -minimum- impedance it can handle. Anything at or above 2ohms will be just fine.

There is a little issue, though. The 4ohm cab will be getting roughly twice as much power as the 8ohm cab. It still works, but you might not get an even balance between the two.

Yes, 2.6 is close enough.

However the 4 ohm cab will be twice as loud as the 8 ohm.

It won't actually be twice as loud but it will be getting twice as much power so it will probably be louder, but how much depends on the sensitivity of the cab for starters.
