I know songs get copied a lot, especially old Blues songs, and some Rock songs. But, to me, Tennessee Whiskey is a blatant rip off of I'd Rather Go Blind. Same arrangement, same little guitar riffs, same bass line, and sung pretty much note for note, with different lyrics. Anybody else feel this way ?

I feel this way. I have also had to play both songs live. I play the same bass lines for both.

I don’t understand why almost no one is replying to your enquiry and just giving other examples of plagiarism as if that makes it okay.

He's So Fine by the Chiffons and My Sweet Lord by George Harrison. My Sweet Lord was the first number one by a Beatle after the band broke up. It's a great song IMO. But it just so happened that it was pretty similar melodically to He's So Fine. Lawsuits ensued and Harrison lost. It all happened before my time, but wikipedia can help explain it if anyone wants to know more.

It's not, though, is it? I know that one is I - ii - V - I and the other is I - ii - ii - I. I know, because I used to play them both as I - ii - V - I before somebody showed me that they're different.

I think this is also just a way too pedantic thing to really mind. It's a form. You can't just take this and then ignore the fact that a lot of blues songs are the same thing with different lyrics and slightly different melody. So I'd just as soon not mind, and not carry the mental burden of giving a damn.
