Digitech bass whammy question

After a 3 week hunt I finally managed to get a NEW digitech bass whammy (the last one the warehouse had and that warehouse was the only one in korea that had any in stock) and I came to a startling discovery.

on any of the effects envolving octave ups the note gets fuzzed over for a split second and then the note comes out. this is when i have the pedal rocked forward for the octave up effect and then play the note, not playing the note and then rocking pedal forward.

Is this the problem with the pedal or my amp? mind you my amp is only a practice amp because i am on vacation. its a 20 watt.
would upgrading to a bigger amp solve the problem? Digitech made hundreds of thousands of these and i've never heard anyone complaing about this (maybe thats cos its been out of production for years).

thanks in advance

wait so is it fixable? Im thinking of returning it to the webstore cos ive been poking around and found that the WH 4 was an alternative. (or I might sell it for an inflated price on ebay) I'm going sometime this week to the music store to try out the WH 4.

thanks for the suggestion :) I'm not worried about losing out but cheating someone else. assuming that this problem is inherent in all the bass whammies, I feel slightly comforted

Just be honest and even mention that its possibly why the pedal was discontinued etc... Honesty is the key. Someone will take the risk or may even be familiar with the problem and decide its ok.
