I'm new to incorporating effects into my bass playing. The only thing I had for a while is a DigiTech Bass Whammy for changing pitch on the fly.
I have come to the conclusion that compression might be something for me to help even out volumes and fading notes (slow church stuff).
My BP355 came in today.
I am specifically interested in making the most out the compression section right now. I have tried to research the various pedals this thing is supposed to imitate, but in my understanding of compression (attack, release, threshold), the values don't correlate.
Which model do people use, what values, AND WHY? I need to understand what the options do.
I have a RIC 4001, which probably only needs a little help, and two Hofners (not known for sustain) that maybe I can make a little punchier, but would like to increase the sustain when I can.
