Digitech guitar whammy for bass guitar?

To the OP, I'm sorry that your post has turned into a Mexican stand-off. Not that the posts have been insubstantive, but I know it can be irritating to have your post, irrespective its overall value, turn into an Internet d*ck-waving contest. Seriously, though, there is a stickied post for a reason--there has been lots of discussion on this board about just about everything even remotely bass-related, and you are doing yourself a disservice by not taking advantage of such elucidating archives.

Getting back to the original question,
You can (probably) still buy an XP1000. These are 4 of the xp pedals (including the Whammy Wah and Space Station) in one, I think the guy goes by JetPack or something similar. He runs guitargeek.com....
Not trying to start anything here, but as I can't remember where I found out about this pedal (I have one and love it) try a search for "XP1000".

good luck looking for an alternate if you choose to, although i bet the guitar whammy will work for most things. i sure do love my bass whammy, especially since i discovered its worth 10x what i paid for it, thanks to J.C. and his tool-time pals

BTW, I have a Whammy IV because there's no way I'd ever pay what a Bass Whammy costs. I wouldn't mind the 5th up but since I don't play Tool songs I doubt I'll ever need it. Sounds fine to me.

I have a question for you guys, it may sound silly though : Can the 'guitar' whammy pedal be used to simply bend notes on a bass? Does it sound good?
And are there other (read cheaper ) pedals that would just bend notes on a bass up/down?

Yes, I own a Whammy 4 and use it to simply bend notes sometimes. It is a very simple peddle to use as long as it is calibrated properly.

I was honestly pretty bummed on my Whammy IV. At least, i was bummed for how much i spent on it relative to what it did for my sound. I ended up selling it and i have not regretted it.

Just know that it's stupid huge and takes up a lot of space. It also has it's own stupid power source that also takes up room.

All in all my Whammy IV reminded me of one of your college friends crashing at your place during winter break. Yeah sure, he's a cool guy and everyone likes him. But when he's all up in yo $^&# and taking up space he ends up being more irritating than anything else... eating all your Cap'n Crunch (with CRUNCHBERRIES!) using your Rice Milk... and then not even doing his own dishes!! In fact the only reason you let him stay is because people think he's cool and made a bunch of cute new girl friends at college that he invites over. But in the end they are just vapid and lame and you're much happier when he leaves...
