digitech or boss

Im looking for a good chorus pedal and I cant decide whether to get the digitech multichorus or the boss ceb-3. I know boss makes good distortion and overdrive pedals but ive been told the other types arent that great. so I was wondering which is better.

I personally like digitech effects. The digitech xbc bass multi-chorus pedal is a pretty cool sounding chorus pedal. the boss ceb-3 is not too shabby, but I like digitech better. if you want a third choice of a chorus pedal, I personally would recommend danelectro chorus pedals(the fab chorus and the new cool cat chorus). they're affordable and and they provide smooth retro chorus sounds. if you want a good affordable chorus pedal, definitely check out the danelectro chorus pedals.

For a decently priced chorus, go used. Boss pedals are really tough so you got nothing to worry about getting something that's been stepped on a couple of times. Also I'd give the CE-5 a whirl, a lot of people prefer it to the CEB-3.

As for the boss haters, it's a bummer you don't get to enjoy the ungodly reliability and consistency of boss pedals. On top of that their modulation line is pretty dang good. To each his own.

Of the two, I'd say boss. Although I've heard good stuff about the Digitech Hardwire chorus.

Mode 8 on the ps3 is a WICKED chunky chorus. More of a detune really, but it works amazing with bass. Believe it.

(their actual chorus pedals leave something desired IMO)

Digitech makes better chorus pedals overall, but their pad footswitches suck, and they aren't true bypass IIRC. Both can be fixed... or ignored.

Not constructive at all. If you're going to completely slag an entire company's product line, at least explain your reasons for doing so. And I completely disagree.

I assume his reasoning for asking about these two particular brands was his not wanting to drop 2 and a half bills on a chorus pedal.


Personally if you're looking for JUST these two brands, I'd go with the Boss. The CE-5 gets a lot of love around here. The CEB-3 is actually pretty good, too, but some people complain that its too subtle.

If you're open to looking at the Digitech Hardwire pedals, then the CR-7 is the way to go, and I think it does beat both the Boss and standard Digitech offerings. If you're open to other brands, and just want to keep things inexpensive, then I'd recommend checking out the Electro Harmonix Small Clone and Stereo Electric Mistress, which are both great sounding choruses.

The CR-7 is a heck of a chorus. Forget the haters.

It has a variety of modes to choose from, unlike most of the other chorus pedals being discussed in this thread

If I were buying a chorus pedal in that price range, the CR-7 would be my choice.

Oh, and Boss pedals are awesome - even if they've never really made a decent distortion for bass ;)
