You could look on eBay for a used whammy IV. I used a whammy IV for years. They work pretty well for bass IMO. They aren't true bypass like the newer ones and that don't have all the settings of the bass whammy but they have a lot of them.
I've never tried one personally but boss makes a pitch shifter which is kinda thier take on the whammy. The m series pedals and the pod hd stuff by line 6 has pitch glide(whammy sim) which i have used and has its ups and downs. The ups being you can do whammy shifts to whatever you want but the downside for me was the tracking didn't seem as good with bass
