There is no DSP or algorithm difference between the Whammy V and Ricochet, there shouldn't be any difference sonically between the two. The Bass Whammy has the same algorithm but we tweaked the detector to better process the longer waveforms of low frequencies.

I think a Bass Ricochet would garner more than a few fans, too. I owned the Ricochet for a short while and what it did was perfect for me. The tracking wasn't too hot on bass, however, which is a real shame as I loved everything else about the pedal.

Same A/D converters with the same latency and all that jazz? I'm fully aware of expectation bias and such so it could all be in my head of course!

@DigiTechRep: I was doing a bit more research, and it looks like the Oct+Dry mode can only do the either Whammy's harmonic octave up or down at once, but it can't do toe-up heel-down like this?

You can have it ricocheting between 0 and either +1 or -1 octave, but it can't do the -1 to +1 harmony range that you can get from the bigger pedals.

Here are my 2cents.
Just got in the ricochet alongside the ehx PF. Comparing both and specially the 1octave up setting the ricochet has a noticeable longer latency time. It also struggles a bit on lower E string frets. Tone wise they are on par; the ricochet sounded to my ears more natural.
All in all for my use the PF will be used for the primary +1shifting and the ricochet for applying more dramatic effects over that shifted sound.
Adding the fifth for muscle or any other interval is a no go without an external blend knob.
If only I could take that feature from the PF and put it in the ricochet.

I built a blend for my ricochet when I was using it, but I broke the switch within like two weeks and bought a nano pog and a pitch fork to replace it. Now I use the blend for dirt, but it worked really well with the ricochet.

I am planning building one with no switch; just the knob. On that matter have you tried one of those stack dual throw pots? I wonder if I could get away with only that and no other circuitry apart from connections.

I forgot to say that a while ago I tried the TC mini sub'n'up still for the +1up and it was a desilusion. Even messing with the toneprint editor I could not get to a satisfactory solution; tracking wise and, above all, tone wise; too much artifacts.
So I exchanged it for the ricochet.

Mine has no switch and just a massive knob I can turn with my foot, but I used an op Amp based thing I found on DIY Stompboxes

I owned one of these for about 3 days. I really liked it (tracking was great) until I realised that there is no knob to mix how much octave you want vs dry signal. You get what you're given and if you don't like it, tough. On that basis alone it swiftly went back to the shop! Other than that I liked it quite a lot.

OK fellas....as far as just using the pedal to raise/lower the overall pitch....how is latency? I'd like to be able to go up one half step and as low as -2 steps with one pedal. Does this perform as well as the whammy DT in these regards?

One year later... The Ricochet has the same engine has the DT.
