digitech whammy

The only 2 that are suitable for bass IMO are the bass Whammy and the Whammy 4. Your right saying Whammy is fun. Anyway, those both have good range and tracking suitable for bass. They both have different effects though. Ive never used a bass whammy but apparently there is a very useful effect that justin chancellor uses. Im not sure what the exact effect is. I have the whammy 4 and it works just fine.

There are like 2 million threads on the bass whammy, whammy 4, etc so if you have any questions about the digitech whammys, do a search. The bass whammy has the 5th up octave up harmony, which Tools bassists justin chancellor used in some songs ( listen to the song Disposition). And the bass whammy tracks the low end better than the guitar whammys (whammy 4). If I were you id just go with the whammy 4 though, since the bass whammy is going for 500$ bucks on ebay...

I have heard that the Wh-1 whammy is VERY suitable for bass and the fact that it is the best sounding whammy overall.

Actually the Whammy IV does have a 5th up/6th up harmony.

The only thing the Bass Whammy has that the IV does not is a 5th down/Octave down harmony (I think). And purportedly better tracking. I use my IV on 5- & 6-string basses (as well as a Chapman Stick) and it can be fairly obvious when it digitizes your sound, but there are ways to avoid it. I like mine lots.

I've never been fortunate enough to demo a bass whammy, but I do own the Whammy IV. It's a great pedal IMO. Tracks well, has lots of usable functions and is just downright fun to play. Absolutley no complaints...highly recommend it.

+1 My thoughts exactly!

It seems the trick is to make sure you never try a bass whammy :) Its only when people actually try one that they seem to get all down on the tracking of the WH4. All those people that have never tried a Bass version seem to be perfectly happy with the WH4.

Aaahhh... Ignorance is bliss :)

I run off down the road with my eyes shut and my fingers in my ears whenever I see a bass whammy because im sure if I try it, its gonna cost me $500 :(
