IMHO the Dillion Ric is close enough to a real Ric to be considered a copy. Yet it's poorly executed... so it's nothing but a really bad copy.

Why get a rick if it doesnt have rick styled pickups? then it wont sound ike a rick so you have this bass thats a poor attempt at looking like a rick with a totally different sound.

Looks of course. It doesn't matter if the Dillion 'Ric' plays and sounds like a dream, it just doesn't look right... which should be a major concern if you want a copy of a bass as unique looking as a Ric.

I understand that reasoning but personally there a few things that irritate me about Rics and why I will probably never own another one, yet I enjoy some of the features of the Dillion.

1. I hate the Ric bridge
2. Neck thru maple w/ single coil pups (bright!)

The set neck and humbuckers with coil taps is a pretty cool idea, combined with the different wood choices would probably be less trebly - I know for some that is why they go for the Rics, but it isn't my thing. I enjoy the feel of the Ric shape though, which is why I find this interesting. Yet, it is still a lot of money for a copy that you have no clue what it could be like. Which is probably why I wouldn't buy it without being able to play it, unless I scored a used one on TB
